Multiple Sclerosis Symptoms Overview:

Multiple sclerosis or “MS” is a chronic health care condition whereby a individuals immune system which normally protects the body from viruses, infection and other invaders known as antigens attacks a persons Central Nervous System or “CNS”.

The CNS is comprised of the brain, spinal cord and optic nerves.  Like a computer the CNS performs information processing, control of bodily functions and more.  In multiple sclerosis a person’s immune system attacks nerve fibers in the CNS and as a result causes damage to the nerves known as neurons.  As nerves are damaged their ability to send and receive signals is compromised resulting in the wide range of symptoms associated with this complex health condition.
